Writing Together Wiki Encourages Collaborative Writing Projects

Writing Together is a free wiki site providing opportunities for adult learners to engage in collaborative writing activities and publish online (http://writingtogether.pbworks.com).

Use this free, easy-to-use site with your learners to help them practice authentic writing skills. According to the wiki site, adult learners can use Writing Together to work on writing projects like the following:
  • Write articles for a school or program newsletter. (One student writing class publishes a professional magazine online.)
  • Write a letter (for example, to a legislator or other policy maker, or to a newspaper editor).
  • Make a brochure (for example, a health brochure).
  • Write a literary journal.
  • Together, as a group, edit a piece of writing.
  • Write individual letters, or a group letter, to a friend or classmate.
  • Have a discussion with learners in another class, in another part of your country or the world.
The site includes Teacher Tips for employing steps in the writing process and using Writing Together.
